The Stars We Love

Taste went on holidays early this year, judging from the Huffington Post Styleist’s Worst Dressed Celebrities List of 2011. It also serves as an initiative to be better next year. Let’s start with appropriate underwear, not as outerwear for starters and keep the golden “less is more” rule for accessories as it was meant to, not for garments in general. Just an idea. Also, I guess there’s nothing wrong with trousers, skirts, dresses or anything slightly bigger than a fig leave for decency’s sake. Just so parents don’t have to cover their children’s eyes when they see their idols. Or their own for that matter. Let’s hope this will all pass with the past year (fingers double-crossed)!

Amanda Harlech has curated an upcoming exhibition in the festive spirit of the season. December 13th sees the opening of Krug Happiness at the Royal Academy of Arts, with Amanda’s famous friends each contributing an item that represents happiness to them. The week-long vernissage sees beloved belongings of Vivienne Westwood, Sienna Miller, Manolo Blahnik, Erdem and Tony Blair among others, while Harlech herself has created a painting especially for the event.

Dolls behind the scenes

Dolled up in glitter lips and fake lashes (courtesy of Rachel Wood and her team from Benefit), minicrimped coiffure (by Saks), there we were doing the hardest job a model can do. 37 shows in 6 days, 12 hours in 5 inch heels, 8 scenes per show in front of thousands of screaming fashion obsessed kids. Mad by numbers, exhausting for appearances, crazy fun in a Groundhog Day sort of way. No wonder the images are more than a bit dazed and confused. Enjoy this little, alternative tour backstage from Clothes Show Live 2011, Birmingham from earlier this week.
